Artist – Yvette Yu

How do you define drawing? By the medium used, marks made, or anything done without paint? When I received an assignment to “draw with a material related to the subject,” I used all my brain cells to think outside of the box. This is a drawing of the brain, colored by different lobes. And as the subject, the human brain is the source of all imagination, which are abstract ideas until one brings them down to paper, by pencils or pens. Hence, I spent 18 hours to “draw” this brain with pencil shavings – the longest time that I took to complete a “drawing.”
