Sheetal Sheth is an Indian American actress, author and activist born in New Jersey, now based in New York City. Her breakout role in 2005 as “Maya” – starring opposite Albert Brooks in “Looking for Comedy in the Muslim World” (2005) – has won her critical acclaim in Hollywood.
Sheetal’s star keeps rising as she appeared in dozens of films and TV shows including the films ABCD and American Chai, I Can’t Think Straight and The World Unseen.
In 2013, she got married to media entrepreneur Neil Mody (Neil Mody is our podcast guest in episode 9 – click here to listen), her college sweetheart from their student days at NYU.
Soon Sheetal became a mother to two girls.
In 2019, Sheetal was diagnosed with breast cancer, a tough challenge that’s motivated her to keep parenting her daughters while instilling in them a deep sense of pride and love for India. How? Why?
Sheetal turns to writing – for strength and self-healing, for her daughters and for parents and children dealing with illness in the family.
